Matsumoto, located in Nagano Prefecture, Japan, is renowned for its rich tradition in furniture making, particularly through its association with the Mingei (folk craft) movement. The history of Matsumoto furniture dates back 400 years and has experienced a resurgence with interest in traditional crafts and local artisanal skills through the Mingei movement, founded by Soetsu Yanagi in the early 20th century which aimed to celebrate and preserve the beauty of everyday handcrafted objects.

This dressing table features a bi-fold mirror which can be closed when not in use. The entire surface of the piece has been refurbished in a muted tone highlighting its form.
