Tea Brewing: A Practice in Stillness
We invite you to spend an afternoon with us exploring the quiet act of tea brewing through the Gaiwan method. Hosted by Jane Cai of Inner.Teahouse, this session centres on attention, rhythm, and the small gestures that shape each cup.
Guided step by step, participants will be introduced to the essentials of Gaiwan brewing, from understanding the purpose of each tea ware to considerations of water quality and temperature. Through this process, the relationship between leaf, water, and time will be revealed.
A selection of three teas will be available for your choosing: Mudan white tea, charcoal roasted Tieguanyin oolong, and Osmanthus black tea. Each offers a distinct character, unfolding gradually across multiple infusions.
The session begins with a warm welcome and light refreshments of cookies, peanuts, and walnuts. Guests are invited to observe and handle dry leaves, engaging the senses through sight and scent before moving into guided brewing. By the end of the 60 mins session, all three teas will be tasted, with an opportunity to purchase them home.
Open to both newcomers and those familiar with tea, this is a space to slow down, to learn, and to share in a moment of quiet clarity.
We look forward to welcoming you.
