Japanese incense has been used to purify, cleanse, and unwind for other a thousand years. During this time it has come to be seen as one of the highest quality incense varieties in the world.

In 1594, Riemon Ouno opened Kungyokudo directly across from the Hongwanji Temple in Kyoto to provide incense and medicine to the monks of the Jodo Shinshu Hongwanji-ha Buddhist school. The incense house is currently led by his 22nd-generation descendant, Kazuo Ouno, and his wife, Chihaya Ouno.

Kungyokudo is the oldest incense producer in Japan.

Marunouchi 1933 - Marunouchi is lined with historic buildings while changing its appearance as the times change. This is a sophisticated scent like the wind that blows through the city where past and present intersect.
