After School Specials: Tea Brewing Workshop

For the second session in this series with Inner.teahouse, we shift our focus towards the practice of brewing. We invite you to spend an afternoon considering the quiet act of tea brewing through the Gaiwan. Hosted by Jane Cai of Inner.Teahouse, the session centres on attention, rhythm, and the small, deliberate gestures that shape each cup.

Participants are guided through the fundamentals of Gaiwan brewing, from the role of each teaware to the influence of water, temperature, and timing. The relationship between leaf, water, and time unfolds gradually through practice.

A selection of three teas will be available for your choosing: Mudan white tea, charcoal roasted Tieguanyin oolong, and Osmanthus black tea. Each offers a distinct character, unfolding gradually across multiple infusions.

The session begins with a warm welcome and light refreshments of cookies, peanuts, and walnuts. Guests are invited to observe and handle dry leaves, engaging the senses through sight and scent before moving into guided brewing.  By the end of the session, all three teas will be tasted, with an opportunity to purchase them home. A full set of tea ware will be provided per guest.

Open to both those new to tea and those more familiar, this is a space to slow down, to learn through doing, and to sit, briefly, with clarity.

We look forward to welcoming you.
