The Long View with Leonard Wee/Benson Chong: Control & Intuition (Early Bird)

The Long View is a series of dialogues on creativity and the questions that shape a life of making, collecting and observing. Presented with Leonard Wee, a graphic designer turned painter and DesignSingapore Scholarship recipient, each session draws on personal experience and different perspectives.

This session features Benson Chong, book designer and co-founder of Singapore-based Studio SWELL. His work includes Shubigi Rao’s Pulp series and the Singapore Biennale 2025 catalogue, pure Intention. He is currently a postgraduate researcher examining the physicality of the book as a site of agency for its makers.

Benson explores the balance between rules and intuition in book design. Drawing from music theory, he examines how grids, type scales and design systems can guide decisions. Through a live deconstruction of Studio SWELL’s books, he looks at where logic gives way to instinct. The session concludes with a conversation with Leonard Wee.

Please note that this session will be photographed and recorded for archival and promotional purposes. By attending, guests consent to the use of their image and voice across our platforms.

Enjoy early bird rates until 16 October, 11:59pm.
