Japanese Capsule Tower

Designed by architect Kisho Kurokawa in 1972, the Nakagin Capsule Tower rose above Tokyo’s Ginza district as the world’s first practical capsule style housing complex and a landmark of Metabolism architecture. Its modular design, composed of 140 capsules attached by crane, embodied a radical vision of interchangeability and renewal that fascinated architects and design lovers in Japan and around the world. Though the building was demolished in 2022, its spirit continues to inspire.

This wooden blocks set pays homage to that visionary structure. With 21 wooden blocks, players can freely stack and rotate pieces to build their own miniature tower, echoing the tower’s modular concept in a playful, abstract form. Windows carved into each block invite endless arrangements, making every build a unique interpretation.

More than a toy, it sparks creativity and design sensibilities, offering a way to reimagine and reconstruct one of Japan’s most iconic works of avant garde architecture through personal exploration.
