Founded in 1920, Hida Sangyo is a premier wooden furniture manufacturer based in the Takayama region of Japan. This area is celebrated for its exceptional wood craftsmanship, which dates back to the 7th Century Nara period. The skilled artisans from Hida-Takayama were instrumental in constructing the magnificent wooden temples of Kyoto and Nara, including the World Heritage site Horyu-ji, which has stood for over 13 centuries.

The Cascada chair by Hida Sangyo was first desgined and manufactured in 1961. It is known as the woodpecker chair due to its trademark which is still intact on this piece.
