September in Motion.

September has been a brisk and productive month, marked by the launch of our Museum Gift Shop Festive Bundles, preparations for the upcoming After School Specials typography workshop, a fresh delivery from Cactus Store and the arrival of our latest shipment, which introduces a handful of new brands to our portfolio.

Unveiling tomorrow, 20 September 2025, the new collection shines a light on Japan’s folk craft tradition of Mingei, which finds quiet beauty in the honesty of everyday objects made from natural materials such as wood, clay and bamboo. Many of the pieces are one of a kind, with a semi-precious quality that rewards close inspection. In particular, visitors can look forward to a finely curated selection of Bizen-yaki chopstick rests. Produced in Okayama Prefecture, this ceramic tradition is celebrated for its earthy tones and natural variations, achieved through wood firing that can last up to two weeks. Each piece is distinct, with hidasuki vivid reds, goma sesame-like speckles and botamochi soft markings reflecting the wabi-sabi spirit of imperfection and simplicity.

Complementing the new arrivals are replenishments of Ideaco’s Wall Table B5, incense and holders from Astier de Villatte, new scents from Kyoto’s Kungyokudo and cast iron pieces by Sumitani Saburo Shoten. We look forward to welcoming you in store this weekend as we resume our usual hours.
