Kungyokudo Incense - Sakae 1966
Japanese incense has been used to purify, cleanse, and unwind for other a thousand years. During this time it has come to be seen as one of the highest quality incense varieties in the world.
In 1594, Riemon Ouno opened Kungyokudo directly across from the Hongwanji Temple in Kyoto to provide incense and medicine to the monks of the Jodo Shinshu Hongwanji-ha Buddhist school. The incense house is currently led by his 22nd-generation descendant, Kazuo Ouno, and his wife, Chihaya Ouno.
Kungyokudo is the oldest incense producer in Japan.
Sakae 1966 - Those were the days when the city was full of dreams and hopes, with roads leading to a shining future stretching out into the city. The scent of sweet and nostalgic memories of landmarks reflecting the bustling cityscape made everyone's hearts beat with excitement.
